On the north slope that is 200 meters to the west of The Buddhism Guanyin Temple, there is a big stone in the cypress forest. The front part of this stone was round, back part was pointed. It looks like a turtle squatting on the slope, just like a real one. It’s said, this is a devine turtle.

    Before the foundation of The Buddhism Guanyin Temple, each rain season there would be a flood, after the flood passed, there was nothing left. People could not plant here. And it’s impossible to found temple. There is a small cave under the holy turtle stone, where there is the place the first monk live here. Considering for the future, the monk pray to the gods to ask for help from the nine dragons and Mt.God. These dragons and Mt.God both thought this is a good deed. Then the Mt.God said, “You nine were much more powerful than me, how you want to settle this matter?” Dragons said, “This matter was not so difficult, we can take charge of water matter, but you should handle the ground matter.” So these dragons asked a devine turtle to come. Whenever the flood came, the turtle should drink up the water. Mt.God ask Forest God and Animal God not to disturb the ground. Leaves must fall to the center part of the valley; all animals must get food from forest. Then the earth’s condition got better and better so as to be used for planting and founding temple.

    That devine turtle always stays here. There was no more flood, but also no water for monks to drink. Then comes the story of Weituo carrying well, cock changing time for crying and so on. The order of the life here became regular step by step.
